Here we go with the Google click-to-call. I am quite intrigued by the potential, especially when linking it up with the rumored print ads and Google Talk. Screenshots and more information can be found via Greg Yardley's blog.
I am a huge fan of VMware and accordingly I have been chomping at the bit to see VMware 5.5 released from beta. As of today it has been and can be downloaded here. I need to get back to gorging myself on turkey so I will be brief... The new version increases performance, inclusion of the free VMware player, advanced snapshot management and what I think are two biggies... full 64-bit host/ guest support and guest systems and virtual smp.
The latter means you can now test under multiple processor scenarios, whereas prior to this, VMware could only be setup with a single processor (the server product had this capability prior to this). The former means you can happily run and test all of the new 64-bit goodness. To my knowledge, the Virtual PC product does not have either of these capabilities (nor the snapshot management and others). More can be read via the VMware 5.5 release notes. One final point of interest, note the date on the VMware release... 11/29/2005 - note the date today... 11/25/2005. Perhaps someone pressed the button too soon in a post turkey daze (or pre-turkey rush).
On the gaming front, reports of the new Xbox 360 crashing have to be making more than a few prospective buyers nervous. I am not a huge gamer (by true gamer definition) but I will play an hour or two from time-to-time while decompressing. That said, if I were one of the prospects trolling eBay with hopes of plunking down $1000+ to get an Xbox 360 a few weeks sooner - I would seriously reconsider until the scope and magnitude of these reports are known. But hey, I plan on waiting until they are available and priced accordingly at retail... More can be read here and here.
